Uploading a recent profile image helps create a sense of community, and helps your peers and lecturers recognise you.
When selecting a profile image, please:
- Select a recent photograph.
- Make it a head and shoulders image, facing the camera.
- Crop it to a square image, resized to 300px x 300px. (This will also help reduce the file size of the image. See tip below)
- Ideally save it as a JPEG image file.
- Upload it to your Learn and Microsoft profiles, see instructions below.
Cropping and Resizing a photo
If you aren’t sure how to crop and/or resize your photo, the following tips might help.
Mac computers
You can use the Preview app on Macs to crop and resize photos. See:
Online editor
You culd try the online Adobe Express (see their Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy)
- Cropping: Adobe Express Image Cropper. Set the ‘Aspect Ratio’ to ‘Square’. Resize and move the selection box over the image, to define the part you want to keep. Then click the ‘Download’ button.
- Resizing: Adobe Express Image Resizer. Set the ‘Aspect Ratio’ set to ‘Custom’, set the Width and Height to ‘300’. Then click the ‘Download’ button.

Upload to your Microsoft profile
Also upload your photo to your Microsoft profile, by following these steps:
- Visit this page: Change your Microsoft account picture
- Select the account type ‘Work / school account’.
- Follow the steps listed.
