This page is for PGT Programme Co-ordinators at R(D)SVS.
Before material is sent to the Digital Education Unit, the Programme Co-ordinator must review and confirm that the content is ready for processing. This will ensure that the lecturer has done what is asked of them and ensure a smooth development process.
Templates
- Internal lecturers must use the R(D)SVS PowerPoint Templates. This is for consistency and for accessibility – it is not a matter of preference.
- External lecturers must use templates that conform to the UoE accessibility policy (font, text size, colour contrast etc).
Slide design
- All slides must have a title. Slide titles are used to produce the navigation menu in the published lecture.
- If the title should hidden (for example in the case of a full screen image) there is an option for this in slide layouts.
- Animations and slide transitions should ideally be removed.
- Please highlight to the E-Learning Developer if these need to be preserved.
- Note: Overlapping images will adversely impact the Slide Handout PDF.
Audio
- Check the audio quality of lecture materials.
- Lectures should only have one audio track per slide.
Copyright
- Image sources must be acknowledged. This could be simplified by a blanket “All images, unless otherwise stated, are copyright [add name here]”.
- We have a guide on using copyrighted images:
Other issues
- Embedded video can cause problems. Let the developer know if the PowerPoint contains video. It’s particularly worth highlighting if there are edits/crops – should sound play or be muted? Consider if the video can be uploaded to Media Hopper Create instead.
- Avoid the laser pointer feature in PowerPoint, as this does not translate into the software we use to publish lectures.
- Formulae can be converted to an image to preserve formatting. (In PowerPoint, right-click and copy the formula, then use the Paste button to Paste as a Picture).
